The Council of Trade Unions is taking action against two forestry companies over the deaths of workers. According to its President, Helen Kelly, they're looking into seeking legal justice for the deaths of Eramiha Pairama and Charles Finlay.
A series of coronial inquest's was due to begin next month into eight recent deaths in the logging industry, but some of those hearings are now on hold to allow for possible court action.
Helen Kelly says it's going to cost a lot of money to pursue these cases. so they're on route to raise money for the cause.
On Sunday, a commemoration will take place for all NZ forestry workers who have died.
On Monday, the Council and their families will walk on Parliament, demanding better health and safety laws for all workers.
