Confusion continues regarding the private company, Te Pātaka Ōhanga (TPO), this time over those on its board of directors.
At the beginning of this week, Te Kōhanga Reo National Trust (TKRNT) announced Tukoroirangi Morgan as one of the five directors on the board of TPO, but that seems to be news to him, given Mr Morgan's comments to Te Kāea yesterday that he was not a member of the board.
The confusion comes following concerns of Mr Morgan's suitability for the role as facilitator of the kōhanga reo meeting to be held at Tūrangawaewae.
It's widely known some kōhanga are at odds with the Trust as well as TPO, and given the belief held by some that Mr Morgan has been appointed to positions on both boards, questions have emerged over his suitability to chair the meeting.
Arapeti Ruri, spokesperson of Te Awhina Kohanga reo says "'We don't know where he stands. Does he side with the board? Does he speak directly to us while he privately supports the board? That's where we're at right now. We don't know where his loyalties lie or what side of the fence he stands on."
