The Auckland City Mission is gearing up to host 2000 people at the annual lunch on Christmas Day at the Viaduct Events Centre.
The celebration has taken months of intense planning by the City Mission. The event was first held 25 years ago at the Auckland Town Hall and to this day the City Mission continues to feed the less fortunate. Last year a celebratory lunch was provided for 3000 people on Christmas Day. It was a prime opportunity to give to those who need it the most.
Volunteers are a significant part of the event. Yesterday Te Kāea went behind the scenes to find out what it takes to prepare for the event.
