30,000 nurses to vote on strike

By Online News - Rereātea

Almost 30,000 nurses will begin voting today on whether or not they'd like to back a nationwide strike for two days in July.

Nurses around the country have been rallying for better patient care, higher pay and safer staffing.

Meanwhile, an independent panel met for the first time last week to resolve the pay impasse between nurses and their employers.

The decision on whether or not to continue with the strike will be made by May 25.
