Pouroto Ngaropo, an expert in Māori language and customs, will assume the new role of Tumuaki Pūmanawa Tāngata (Head of People, Language & Culture) at Māori Television in mid-October.
Ngaropo (Mataatua, Te Arawa, Tainui, Takitimu, Ngātokimatawhaorua) has extensive knowledge of te ao Māori, as well as wide-ranging management and teaching experience. He has held many cultural advisory roles, and been part of numerous health, community and iwi organisations.
He will be responsible for driving the development of an integrated people, language and culture strategy at Māori Television.
