It's been long argued that when it comes to police prosecutions Māori are far more likely to have the book thrown at them than Pākehā. 

And there's plenty of statistical information that shows the disproportionate treatment of Māori in our criminal justice system. 

One man, Timothy Morrison knows this only too well.  Timothy is a trainee paramedic and a former Māori Party candidate.  

But for the past 18 months he's been through living hell, defending a manslaughter charge for a crime he didn't commit. 

As our reporter Ruwani Perera discovered, while Timothy cleared his name, the ordeal continues to have an impact on his life.
