Pare Hauraki mourn the loss of their champion Toko Renata

Hauraki leader Toko Renata Te Taniwha (Ngāti Maru, Ngāti Pukenga, Ngāti Whanaunga) passed away on Wednesday 29 November, at his home in Manaia, Coromandel, surrounded by whānau, aged 86. Hauraki Māori Trust Board member Harry Mikaere says Toko was a perfect leader for the tribes of Pare Hauraki.

King Tuheitia Pootatau Te Wherowhero VII reaffirmed his support for the Māori Party in his 11th annual Coronation address saying the Kīngitanga will participate in every general elections during his reign to ensure Māori sovereignty.

Late Archbishop Brown Turei remembered at Coronation

Waikato ex-pats living in Australia return for Koroneihana celebrations

Thousands of Waikato-Tainui descendants live in Australia but every year a contingent return home for the annual celebrations for the Coronation of the reigning Māori monarch. They gathered at Hopuhopu ahead of King Tuheitia Pootatau Te Wherowhero VII's 11th Coronation which officially begins tomorrow.
