~~Hastings Boys' High School has been crowned this year's Super 8 champions after beating Hamilton Boys' High with a convincing 30-8 win. A stellar end to an undefeated competition for Hastings.
Hastings Boys High School captain, Kianu Kereru-Symes says winning the competition was indescribable.
"It’s been a long time coming since we won this title, so it's good to get one at home," he says.
Head coach Mark Ozich says it’s been a long 12 year wait.
"We've had a few dull years in between but it's just fantastic, it almost brings a tear to my eye, I'm really really proud," he says.
The talented side has scored 504 points and has only conceded 112 points through the entire competition.
"At the start of the year we didn't think that it was going to turn out this way but yeah, just all the hard work we put in throughout this season, it all comes down to hard work so just proud of what the boys have done," explains HBHS player Danny Toala.
With the Super 8 crown tucked away, the focus now is the Top 16.
