Continued sale of legal highs outrages community

By Lynette Amoroa

Communities across the country hit the streets today to show their anger over the continuing availability of legal highs in NZ.

Protesters say the Govt's new synthetic drug legislation isn't good enough and have asked for a permanent national ban.

Among the crowd today in Waitākere, was Auckland's Deputy Mayor, Penny Hulse, urging Govt and local councils to work together.

The Psychoactive Substances Act came into effect last July after growing concerns over the safety of synthetic drug products.

The legislation makes it illegal for the substance to be sold in some shops but for those wanting to sell it, they must fit certain criteria.
