Complete pandemonium broke out as proud All Blacks fans welcomed home their Rugby World Cup champions at Auckland Airport.

The All Blacks were visibly moved as they emerged from behind the customs gates to screams and cheers of delight from the masses.

All Blacks Captain Richie McCaw held the Web Ellis Cup high above his head for all fans to see while his team mates immediately made their way to fans to sign autographs.

Some of the fans waiting had been at the airport all night in anticipation of their arrival.

As the All Blacks made their way through the Airport they gave fans an opportunity to see things through their eyes by live streaming their movements on the Periscope App.

The eager crowd waiting outside sang a number of songs including the national anthem and ‘Pokarekare Ana’ while Air New Zealand handed out mini rugby balls, black lollies, clappers and signs for fans to write messages of support.

Richie McCaw and All Blacks Coach Steve Hansen thanked all the fans for turning out and for their support throughout the World Cup competition, they also told the crowd they looked forward to travelling across the country to thank supporters over the next few days.

A parade will be held at midday for the team at Victoria Park and thousands more are expected to converge there to continue the strong show of support for the team.

Te Kāea will be there and will have updates throughout the day and more details tonight on Te Kāea at 5:30pm.
