Born and raised in Gisborne, Talisa attended Waikirikiri School, and Lytton High School.
At age seven, while living with her grandparents, her koro placed her in the te reo unit – a decision she is forever grateful for.
She has completed a BA in Maori Studies, a Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism (with merit) at Massey University, and has a background in print journalism.
Her interests include grassroots stories, indigenous cultures and progress for te reo Maori.
