GIVE 'EM A CLAP!
Roll up, roll up! Māori Television’s new karaoke series HOMAI TE PAKIPAKI invites wannabe singing stars to audition for the live Friday night show in Auckland for the chance to win $1,000 – and a place in the final to compete for the $10,000 grand prize!
Karaoke kings and queens can register to audition from 6.00 PM every Friday at Māori Television’s central city studio in Davis Crescent, Newmarket. Contestants must be over 16 years of age and will be chosen for their singing and performing talents.
The lucky finalists will then perform live on HOMAI TE PAKIPAKI from 8.30 PM that night and the weekly winner of $1,000 is chosen by the most text votes received from viewers. Voting lines open for 15 minutes only once the final contestant has performed – approximately 9.40 PM.
To vote, viewers can text to 3553. The keyword is ‘paki’, leave a space, and then add the number of the contestant. Texts cost 99 cents each.
The grand final of HOMAI TE PAKIPAKI will screen live on Friday September 14 at 8.30 PM.
Presenter Te Hāmua Nikora says every singer watches singing shows at one time or another, and thinks – ‘I can do better than that’.
“This is your chance to do so,” says Te Hāmua. “Māori love to sing and this has infected the Kiwi psyche to the point where even the flattest of us will still give it a go.
“Once the ball gets rolling and news of HOMAI TE PAKIPAKI hits the kumara vine hard, the singers will come out like cockroaches after a good Gisborne summer rain.
“The prize money of $1,000 – and the grand prize of $10,000 – should get them running like flies to a bucket of koura mara!”
Grab your chance to showcase your singing talents and win $1,000 cash with HOMAI TE PAKIPAKI – every Friday night at 8.30 PM on Māori Television.coming up ON MĀORI TELEVISION:
