From 1 November 2013, the 100 per cent Māori language channel Te Reo will be available on the Digital Terrestrial platform, increasing its accessibility for viewers around the country.
The channel, which turned five this year, is now available on the Freeview HD platform (approximately 87% population coverage of NZ) and can be found at channel 24.
General Manager of Technology, Mark Bullen is delighted to be able to offer Te Reo channel on the same platform as the Māori Television channel.
“Previously, Te Reo channel was only accessible via satellite set-top devices so we’re thrilled to be increasing its availability. This represents a significant investment and, in addition to the new website, demonstrates our commitment to providing an important resource for the Māori speaking community.”
For most viewers, Freeview HD approved and Freeview compatible devices should automatically update themselves with Te Reo channel but for those that don’t, channels can be manually rescanned.
