Very few people can claim to have written the “Best Cookbook in the World”, but that is just one of many achievements for Marae Kai Masters 2016’s newest host Robert Oliver.
In addition to writing for The Huffington Post, winning the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards, speaking at TEDx and appearing on My Kitchen Rules NZ as weekly tasting panel judge, Robert has joined actor and foodie extraordinaire Te Kohe Tuhaka as a judge on Māori Television’s brand new season of the much-loved competitive cooking show, Marae Kai Masters.
Filmed in the beautiful Bay of Plenty, Robert and TK will see who can handle the heat as the teams fight to showcase the best kai from their rohe (region) and win glory for their marae. There’s no shortage of delicious highs, dramatic lows and the odd love story when the contestants are taken out of the marae and into the commercial kitchen.
This season features 12 teams representing marae from all over the country battling to win prizes for their wharekai and the title of Marae Kai Masters 2016. Special guest judges, hilarious mishaps and mouth-watering dishes featuring local produce unique to Aotearoa are all in store.
Marae Kai Masters launches exclusively on Māori Television at 8.30pm on Wednesday, March 16.
