Kiwi Music Stars Unplugged on Māori Television Every Friday

Sit back and enjoy the sounds of ORUORUA, Maori Television’s beautiful new music series starting on Friday, June 21 at 8.00pm.

The 20 part series, which means harmony, highlights the talents of a range of top New Zealand musicians, including Maisey Rika, Tama Waipara and Te Awanui Reeder.

The artists perform a half-hour acoustic set in front of an intimate audience every Friday night, starting with Ruatoria-born Nat Rose, who is one of the country’s best soul singers.

The second part of the series focuses on soul sessions with performers including Ria Hall, Bella Kalolo and Iva Lamkum as well as male and female artist sets.

Friday, June 21 is a big night of music on Maori Television, staring at 7.30pm with music video show TRIBE, followed by ORUORUA and then HOMAI TE PAKIPAKI at 8.30pm.

AOTEAROA REGGAE ALL STARS debut at 9.30pm in a one hour music special to showcase their new remake of the Herbs’ classic song, Sensitive to a Smile.

The project is an exclusive collaboration of the country’s best reggae artists – including Che Fu, Sons of Zion, Tomorrow People, Ria Hall and Katchafire - who have joined forces to fight child abuse.  All proceeds of the new Sensitive to a Smile single will go to the Mana Ririki child advocacy charity, which was set up in 2007.

Tune in to Maori Television on Friday, June 21 for the premiere of ORUORUA at 8.00pm and AOTEAROA REGGAE ALL STARS at 9.30pm.
