Continued support on Māori Television for local rugby league

Auckland’s inter-club rugby league championship competition returns to Māori Television for a fifth year, starting on Saturday 14 June at 3.30pm.

Over the next 12 weeks, host Te Arahi Maipi, commentator Dale Husband and Rusty Matua will cover two games from rounds 10 to 18 of the FOX MEMORIAL SHIELD premiership, followed by play-off games and LIVE coverage of the grand final game.

Auckland Rugby League operations manager Troy Hardy says they are pleased to once again have Māori Television broadcasting the Appliance Shed FOX MEMORIAL SHIELD premiership matches.

"With Māori Television we are taking the Auckland game to a national audience, and we look forward to the coverage in 2014."

Each weekend there will be one game broadcast on Māori Television on Saturday at 3.30pm and the other on Sunday at 1.30pm.

Wairangi Koopu and Hemana Waaka are also part of the team providing Māori commentary of the same games for Te Reo channel.  These will be broadcast on Sundays at 9.00pm and Tuesdays at 8.30pm.

Teams in the 2014 Appliance Shed Fox Memorial premiership include: Glenora Bears, Howick Hornets, Mangere East Hawks, Marist Saints, Mt Albert Lions, Northcote Tigers, Otahuhu Leopards, Papakura Sea-Eagles, Point Chevalier Pirates and Richmond Bulldogs.
